PRP FAQS

Find clear answers about PRP hair restoration and PRP skin rejuvenation at Plasmique PRP & Aesthetics. These FAQs cover what to expect before, during and after your appointment.

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

Hydrate well the day before and on the day of treatment. Aim for 6–8 glasses of water across the day, or around 1.5–2 litres, unless you have been advised to restrict fluids.

On the morning of your appointment, drink 1–2 glasses of water before attending. This helps support comfort during blood collection for PRP.

Limit tea, coffee, energy drinks and other high-caffeine drinks on the day. Water is preferred before PRP and skin treatments.

Avoid alcohol for 24–48 hours before your appointment.

Arrive with clean skin or a clean scalp.

For scalp PRP, shower and wash your hair the night before or the morning of your appointment.

For facial treatments, attend with no makeup.

For scalp appointments, avoid hair fibres, coloured root sprays, oils, gels and heavy styling products on the day of your appointment.

Do not stop prescribed medication unless your doctor or prescribing clinician has advised you to do so.

1. About PRP

What is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)?

PRP supports the skin and scalp by using concentrated platelets and growth factors from your own blood. It can improve the appearance of thinning hair or skin texture, though individual results vary.

Is PRP treatment safe?

PRP uses a concentrated portion of your own blood and is performed using strict clinical protocols in a professional healthcare setting. At Plasmique, all equipment used for blood collection, processing and treatment is sterile and single-use only.

Your treatment is performed by fully qualified registered nurses with extensive healthcare experience, including expertise in infection prevention and control. We follow rigorous standards for hygiene, patient safety and clinical practice to ensure the highest level of care.

A consultation is required to assess your suitability for treatment, discuss any potential risks and benefits, and answer any questions you may have.

2. Before Your Appointment

How should I prepare for my first visit?

A consultation is required to assess suitability. We recommend staying hydrated and avoiding alcohol to support natural recovery after the procedure.

3. Hair / Scalp PRP Preparation

What do I need to do before my scalp treatment?

Shower and wash your hair before your appointment. This supports a clean area for the procedure which may help improve the appearance of hair density.
